A DAY AWAY BUS TRIP - UKRAINIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE VILLAGE
History is brought to life at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, an open-air museum where costumed role-players recreate the life of early Ukrainian pioneers that settled in east central Alberta from 1892-1930. Step back in time to hear real stories of hardships and triumphs in Canada’s oldest and at one-time largest bloc settlement of Ukrainian pioneers. Buildings from surrounding communities have been moved to the historic site and restored to various years within the first part of the twentieth century. Explore more than 35 relocated and restored structures including a burdei (sod house), a one-room and two-room school, grain elevator, blacksmith shop and three churches of Eastern Byzantine Rite. As this is an outdoor museum good walking shoes and appropriate clothing are essential for a safe and enjoyable visit. We are partnering with Xtreme Oilfield Technology in providing a bus trip to anyone over the age of 55. Participants are responsible for additional expenses such as lunch and souvenirs.
REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY.
