Located in Northeast Alberta, approximately 200 kilometers from Edmonton, the St. Paul area is diversified in mixed agriculture, oil and gas industry and many tourist locations and events.

The main trade centres are the towns of St. Paul and Elk Point. The communities of Ashmont, Frog Lake, Heinsburg, Lafond, Lindbergh, Lottie Lake, Mallaig, Saddle Lake, St. Edouard, St. Lina, and St. Vincent also provide services to local residents and visitors.

The ethic diversity of the area is showcased by a number of cultural events throughout the year including l'Association canadienne-francaise de l'Alberta (ACFA)'s Cabane a Sucre, Ukrainian Pyrogy Suppers, the Saddle Lake First Nations Pow Wow Days and the Lakeland Rodeo Association (LRA) Finals on the Labour Day weekend. Community events, such as the annnual Canada Day celebrations, provide valued recreational and family activities.

St. Paul was the birthplace of InfoMall. The concept arose from interagency discussions about the need for coordination of information and planning for the many community events and activities. No single organization had the resources to take on this responsibility, and common sense indicated that it is better for the community if people take responsibility for their own decisions. The founding principles of InfoMall, therefore, provide the opportunity for organizations, businesses and individuals to act on their own behalf.
